WHAT SHOULD I BRING, WEAR, DO PRIOR TO CLASS?
Suitable clothing is exercise clothes in which you can move in (think leggings, singlets, loose t-shirts; shorts for the guys). Bare feet are required for all yoga classes. Bring water and a towel. We provide mats, which will be set up, ready for you to walk in and choose your position.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE YOGA?
Regular yoga practice requires discipline, commitment and consistency. We recommend a practice of 3 + times a week, which will start to produce results quickly.
WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY?
The first thing you need to do is let the instructor know about the injury before your practice so we can modify some of your practice and give different variations for your injury. The benefits of a safe and regular yoga practice on healing old injuries are strong, as we start to work into all areas of the muscles, skeletal alignment and facial tissue. That said, it is important to ensure you seek appropriate medical advice prior to commencing a yoga practice if you are recovering from an injury. It is your responsibility to make the instructor aware of your injury prior to every class.
I AM PREGNANT. CAN I PRACTISE?
Generally, our classes are not designed for pregnant women. We offer a beginner, slow flow class every week, which is less intensive and would be more suitable for pregnancy up to 15 weeks. It is important to consult your medical practitioner prior to practicing during pregnancy, if you are more than 15 weeks send us an email and we can happily recommend a pre-natal yoga class in the area.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO PRACTISE YOGA?
We have people of all ages in our classes. If you haven’t practiced yoga before or for a long time we recommend starting with our beginners class.
Fourteen years of age is our minimum age to practice yoga; all students under the age of 17 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian or have spoken to the instructor to give their approval prior to class.
WHAT TO DO ON MY FIRST VISIT
Allow yourself 10 minutes prior to class to check in with the instructor. If possible, don’t have anything to eat 1 ½ hours before class and arrive well hydrated.
